A critical component of Ascend’s model—one that has been essential to our students’ academic success thus far—is our focus on building a responsive, restorative, warm, and deeply supportive student culture that fosters community and wellbeing. Combined with our inquiry based education approach, our students outperform their district peers —regardless of school, grade, or subject – and attend college at more than 2x the national average for students from communities that are low-income*.
In order to develop and deliver this education, we depend on the charitable support of the philanthropic community to make up the difference in funds that we receive from State and Local funding which do not entirely fund Ascend’s operations. While charter schools are publicly funded schools, the supports that make Ascend’s curriculum impactful are made possible through charitable donations and philanthropic contributions. Ascend is a proud recipient of the MacKenzie Scott $11M gift. It’s an honor to be recognized for our work. These funds will help us invest in our facilities, strengthen our program, and deepen roots within the Brooklyn community.
As a 501(c)3 organization, all donations to Ascend are fully tax-deductible, and gifts of any size are appreciated. Please click the button above to donate using a credit card. We also accept checks, money orders, stock, securities, donor advised funds (DAF), and wire transfers. Please email info@ascendlearning.org with any questions.
With your continued support, we will achieve our goals to best serve our Brooklyn community!
*As of November 2020, 46% of students from high-poverty high schools enrolled in college, compared to 70% of students from low-poverty high schools.
